Outdoor Solar powered Lettuce Raft

I just added some new pictures of my outdoor Lettuce Rafts – one of which is solar powered (as you can see in the pic above) – I had great success with romaine lettuce and cilantro this winter when using a lettuce raft indoors, but now want to expirement with a few of these systems outdoors. I’ve got all types of veggies going on here – boston lettuce, romain lettuce, basil, radish and a variety of hot peppers. The pics above show 2 raft systems, one of which is solar powered by (2) 21watt panels and a sealed lead acid battery bank. The solar setup should provide power to my single 4-watt air pump – but only lasts 2 days without adequate sunshine. The Lettuce Raft on the left is powered by an A/C air pump protected in a small rubbermaid container so it can be protected from the weather. I’ve started 2 sets of seeds and the lettuce raft on the left has seedlings that have a 2 week jump vs. the solar powered lettuce raft – those were transplanted into the raft this morning. Check out the gallery for some pics, more to follow soon on the solar power. Check out the pictures in the gallery now!
